Why this page exists
playascerca.com is an independent project sustained by two revenue streams: affiliate commissions and contextual advertising. This page explains exactly how those work, who our commercial partners are, and why none of this affects editorial content. We write it in plain English because transparency is both a legal requirement (FTC for US readers, GDPR for European ones) and, more importantly, a matter of respect for the reader.
Our affiliate programs
When you click one of the following links and complete a booking or purchase, we may earn a small commission. You never pay more — the cost comes out of the vendor's marketing budget.
- Booking.com — accommodation. Typical commission: 4 % of stay value, paid only if you actually stay.
- Amazon Spain (Associates Program) — beach gear. Tag:
playasc-21. Commission: 1 to 10 % depending on category. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. - Hertz, Sixt, Europcar (via Impact) — car rentals. Commission per completed booking.
- Google AdSense — contextual ads shown on some pages, never on Blue Flag listings or water-temperature data.
Where the links appear
On individual beach pages (nearby accommodation, regional car rental) and in editorial guides (when we recommend specific gear). Every affiliate link carries the standard HTML attribute rel="sponsored", which is the technical way to declare an affiliate link to search engines and screen readers.
How this affects content
It does not. The Blue Flag list comes from the official FEE registry; water temperatures come from Open-Meteo Marine API; editorial guides are based on historical data and personal experience. No affiliated vendor has ever paid to be ranked higher or to suppress competitors. If we ever stop recommending Hertz, it will be because their service got worse, not because another company offered more commission.
How affiliate links are marked
Each page with affiliate links carries a short footer note. Additionally, search engines and screen readers detect the rel="sponsored" attribute automatically.
If you want to support us without spending
The most useful way to back the project for free is sharing a beach page with someone planning a trip. Every page has a stable URL; word of mouth is still the best channel for an independent project.
